With the temperatures climbing this week we will use use micro spikes for this hike.   We have selected a pristine location for a winter hike that will take you to the frozen waterfalls at Lake Minnewaska.  This is an easy/mostly flat trail that offers amazing views through snow covered woods and a 188 foot mostly frozen waterfall.  We will also stop at the Culinary Institute of America’s “The Egg” Cafeteria for lunch and end the day at a hard cidery.

How it works

Your day will begin with the spectacular trip along the Metro-North Railroad’s Hudson River Line to Poughkeepsie, NY (or you can drive and meet the group at the train station). We will pick the group up at 10:40am.  You may also drive to meet the group at the train.

We will stop at the Culinary Institute of America for lunch at the amazing “EGG” cafeteria then head to the trail. (You may also bring your own food.)

The Trail: Conditions permitting we will be on the Peter’s Kill to Awosting Falls trail, The River to Ridge Trail or The Lake Minnewaska Loop.  All are easy trails that wind through the woods, along the Peters Kill (river) and to Awosting Falls.  It is mostly all on flat carriage roads.

After the hike we will stop at Bad Seed Hard Cidery for snacks and samples.

You will likely be on the 5:50pm train back home at the latest.
