Green-Wood Cemetery Halloween Hike

Explore one of New York City’s most fascinating and historic places on this special 2.1-mile Halloween Hike through Green-Wood Cemetery!

Founded in 1838, Green-Wood Cemetery is a spectacular 478-acre National Historic Landmark in Brooklyn and the final resting place of more than 570,000 people, including notable politicians, soldiers, artists, entertainers, inventors, and business leaders.

But Green-Wood is much more than a cemetery. Its beautiful landscape features rolling hills, winding paths, ponds, impressive monuments, historic mausoleums, and incredible views of New York City. Our route will also take us through Battle Hill, the highest natural point in Brooklyn.

With Halloween approaching, it’s the perfect time to explore the history, mystery, and beauty of this remarkable place while meeting other members of the group.

How It Works

  • Meet your guide at the main entrance at 10:00 AM sharp.
  • We’ll follow a paved route through the cemetery, passing famous graves, impressive monuments, beautiful landscapes, and scenic overlooks.
  • Along the way, your guide will share interesting stories and historical facts about Green-Wood and some of its famous permanent residents.
  • The hike is approximately 2.1 miles with 175 feet of elevation gain.
  • Hiking time is approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.
  • After the hike, everyone is invited to join us at a local café for food and drinks and more time to socialize.
