It is the Year of the Rabbit for the Chinese Lunar New Year. This cooking class will show you how easy it is to make authentic Chinese style fried rice with meat, veggies or both. You can follow along and cook with us or just watch and take notes for another time.
What to Expect:
- When you register, we will send you log-in information on how to join us.
- Your instructor will take you from start to finish the process of making the dish.
- During the process the group will have opportunities to ask questions as well as socialize.
How it works:
- If cooking along with us, you will need to be set up and ready to go in your kitchen.
- If you are just watching and taking notes, sit back and relax.
Cost: $10 General Members / $5 Lifetime VIP Members
What you will need if cooking:
Tools: stove, large frying pan or wok, spatula.
Ingredients:
-2 cups of white or brown rice. It is best to use rice that is at least a day old. You may cook yourself or pick up at a local Chinese restaurant the day before.
-2 eggs
-1 carrot
-Small bag of frozen peas
-1 yellow onion
-Vegetable Oil
-Sesame Oil (optional) but recommended
-Soy Sauce
-OPTIONAL: pork, shrimp, beef, chicken or all 3!
The Instructor:
Dave Cervini (NYSN Founder) has studied culinary arts at The New School and Peter Kumps as well as serving as a sous-chef at hundreds of cooking classes.
What do I need?
A device with a camera and microphone.
How do I participate?
When you register we will send you a code to join or Zoom meeting and all the information you will need to participate.
Can I attend alone?
Right now, 99.9% of those participating attend alone.
What if I have a roommate, friend, family member or significant other with me that wants to participate too?
We ask that you pay for each person that is participating.
How many are expected?
Most of our virtual events have 10 participants unless otherwise specified.
Who participates in these?
The demographics of our online events are varied unless we have a specific criteria listed. For the most part there are all ages and ethnicities. Realistically, this should not matter to you. If there is an event that you would like to do, then do it! It is totally different than physically being stuck at something you are not enjoying. You can “click out” at any time. If you are unhappy with the experience we will refund your fee.
