IF YOU REGISTER AFTER 3PM ON FRIDAY YOUR CONFIRMATION EMAIL WILL BE SENT AROUND 9PM TONIGHT. There is nothing like being in the rolling hills of the Hudson Valley in Summer. We have the ultimate end of Summer fun day planned for you with a little something for everyone! You’ll enjoy a delicious riverside BBQ surrounded by amazing views of the Hudson River, an easy to moderate hike at Shaupeneak Ridge, a trip to a local farm stand, a winery and a Happy Hour party at our private campsite with members from our camping trip.
Your day begins with the spectacular Metro North Train ride up the Hudson as the cement of the city melts into the rolling hills and vistas of the Hudson Valley. (You may also drive to meet the group in Poughkeepsie by contacting group leader Dave Cervini at firstname.lastname@example.org)
After the train station the group will be driven to our private riverside campsite for a delicious BBQ lunch. (chicken, burgers, dogs, salads).
After lunch we will do a short easy hike at Shaupeneak Ridge (4 out of 10 level) 1 hour 15 minutes. 1.5 miles.
Following the hike we will get in the van and head to a local farm stand orchard for fresh veggies, chocolates fresh honey and more .
Then it is on to the El Paso Winery for tasty wine samples.
Finally we will end the day back at our campsite for happy hour where you can relax or play games, go kayaking and more!
$110 ($100 V.I.P. Members) includes: transportation to all local activities and back from Poughkeepsie train, BBQ lunch, park and guide fees and winery fees, beer, wine and soft drinks at the campsite .
Can I come alone? Yes, 97% of those attending will likely be coming on their own.
How do I find the group? Do not worry about meeting anyone at Grand Central. Just get on the 9:43am Metro North Train to Poughkeepsie. Sit back, relax, enjoy the ride, the views, a nap or a snack and your guide will be waiting at the top of the stairs in Poughkeepsie with a sign. If you miss them call 646-418-1098.
What to bring:-Dress for the weather -hiking shoes or sturdy sneakers for the fields and orchards and hike -a large backpack or bag if you wish to bring home things you may purchase. -bathing suit if you want to swim. There is a shower and changing area at campsite
What if it rains? The trip will be canceled if the condition make it dangerous to hike. Refunds or credits will be give. There are no refunds if you miss the train.
How hard is the hike and do I have to hike can I just stay at the campground? The hike is a 4 out of 10 difficulty. You should be in good shape as there are 2 inclines that would be the same stress level as climbing 8 flights of stairs each. You are welcome to stay at the campground.
Ages: 21+ Most of our events attract 20’s -40’s although some events can skew younger or older (50’s) depending on the event. Some events are clearly age specific as indicated.
