The forecast is for several inches of snow on top of what is already on the ground in the Hudson Valley this weekend. Join us as we take an adventure through this beautiful winter wonderland with a fun group of members and friends.  A snowshoe is footwear for walking over the snow. Snowshoes work by distributing the weight of the person over a larger area so that the person’s foot does not sink completely into the snow, a quality called “flotation”.  We have selected a pristine location for a winter hike that you won’t forget.  Your day will begin with the spectacular trip along the Metro North Railroad Hudson River Line to Poughkeepsie, NY (or you can drive and meeet the group at the train station ). We will stop for a quick bite at Pizza Mia (voted the best pizza in the Hudson Valley) from there it is off to a beautiful nature preserve 2 hour journey through a snow covered forest. Following our hike we will go for hot chocolate and a cold beer at The Culinary Institute of America.

$100 includes: -Snow Shoe rental,-Hiking fees, guide fees and transportation from Poughkeepsie train station to all activities and back  ($90 for VIP members) If you have your own snow shoes $90, you will need to contact dave@newyorksocialnetwork.com to make special payment arrangements..

Not included: train fare, lunch (you may also bring your own)

What do I need to wear? snow boots or waterproof hiking boots, thermals, warm gloves, snow pants (optional).  It is going to be in the low thirties, please use you best judgement as to what is best for you.  You can always leave items in the van if you brought too much.

If you are driving there yourself please contact dave@newyorksocialnetwork

Difficulty level: Beginners welcome but you should be able to hike through a 2 mile nature preserve. There are 2 inclines that would have the difficulty level of climbing 8 flights of stairs. The trails used will be determined by the conditions.
