Rock climbing walls in gym are cool but nothing compares to the real thing!  Join us for this special day out of the city on the legendary trails of the Shawangunk Ridge as we enjoy the beautiful sights and learn how to scale some real (beginner) cliffs!  By the end of the day you’ll be invigorated and filled with a sense of accomplishment while making new friends along the way. Space is limited to 7 climbers so sign up fast!This trip is designed for First time climbers, climbers transitioning from indoor to outdoor, intermediate climbers

You’ll start the day with the beautiful train ride along the iconic Hudson River Metro North Line into the heart of the Hudson Valley. You may also drive and meet the group at the train station.  Your guides will meet you at The Poughkeepsie Train station and drive your to the ridge. Throughout the day, your guides will be there to assist, encourage and guide the group as you all learn the ropes. There is no better view than a view well-earned as you reach the top, and you will earn these vistas while becoming a more fluid, focused climber. Before you know it, you’ll find the holds, belay like a pro and scale a rock face with grace. After exploring a variety of routes.

Following the climb it’s back to the train station for the relaxing ride home with your new friends to discuss the adventures of the day!  Estimated train time back will be the 4:50pm

All your equipment will be provided for you.

What to bring:  Lunch, 2 liters of water, sunscreen, snacks.

Dress: dress for the weather.

Cost: $190 general members $180 VIP members

What is included:  transportation to and from the train station to the park, all climbing gear, permits, guide fees.

Not included:  lunch, train transportation, (tips for your guides if they did a great job).

You will be asked to fill out a waiver.

Can I come alone?  Yes, 99% of those attending this event normally register on their own. You welcome to bring as many non member guests, friends & co workers as you’d like, just make sure to register for the number of people that you want below. Our staff will be ready to greet you and introduce you to others whether you are on your own or with guests.

Do I need a ticket?  Unless otherwise instructed, if you registered and paid for this event or registered with a voucher your name will be on a list with your host at the meeting location.  Confirmation emails will be sent

How will I find the group?  We will send you a confirmation email with exact locations, contact info and names of those who are hosting the event when you register. We will send follow up emails as we get closer, usually the night before or morning of.

Ages: 21+  Most of our events attract 20’s -40’s although some events can skew younger or older (50’s) depending on the event. Some events are clearly age specific as indicated.   If this is an issue for you contact Dave at the address below and we can usually give you a very accurate idea of what to expect.

Who Comes to These?: Our activities attract NY Professionals from all backgrounds and professions who are looking to expand their social circles.  You will also find others who are looking to learn something, network for business, try something they have never done before or enjoy something they love doing but can’t get their friends to do. There may also be some people looking to find that someone special who share a passion for the same activities (but don’t make this the sole reason you come out).
